The charter crew of the M/V Alert Bay includes its Alaskan owners, John and Mary Blenz.  They look forward to guiding you on a private cruise through Southeast Alaska's Inside Passage.

John grew up on horseback in the mountians of NE Washington with a dad who kept returning to Alaska and the US Coast Guard.  It wasn't long before John adventured to Alaska to see the alure.  John  found a second love on the water, and began exploring, fishing, and working on boats, whenever he could get away from the ranch.  He eventually sold the ranch and moved to SE Alaska full time to pursue this passion of operating and fixing boats.  He is a Master Shipwright and has his own company, Nordic Shipwrights & Joinery.

Mary was born in Ketchikan’s old hospital, and grew up spending as much time in the woods and  on the water as possible.  Upon graduating from High School, Mary began a career at sea working on the Alaska Marine Highway.  Employed as a Chief Purser, she spends her day assisting other deparments and passengers. From 1987-2001 she took winters off to teach high school mathematics in several Alaskan towns.

 John and Mary live in Southern Southeast Alaska year-round and love to explore the
Inside Passage by skiff, a 43 ft troller and  the comfort of the 70 ft M/V Alert Bay. 
Their dogs, Lucy and Teak, and cat, smokey, enjoy the outings as well.
